Team History[edit]
The Potros de Minatitlán replaced the Petroleros de Minatitlán in 1996, after five unsuccessful seasons in the Mexican League. The team fared no better under its new name, finishing last in the Liga. The team was gone after two seasons. The team's best player was 1B-DH Tyrone Woods, who hit .342 with 18 home runs and 73 RBI, to place himself among league leaders in all three Triple Crown categories; he stuck out on a team that finished well last in batting average, hitting a collective .244 (.014 behind the next worst team).
