Pitch (television series)

From BR Bullpen

Pitch is a fiction television series about the first woman to play major league baseball. It premiered on FOX on September 29, 2016 at 9 pm ET.

The series revolves around Ginny Baker, played by Kylie Bunbury, a female African-American pitcher who makes her big league debut with the San Diego Padres, becoming the first woman to play at the level. In flashback scenes, it is explained that Ginny was taught to pitch by her father, a former minor league baseball player. Supporting actors include Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who plays the Padres' catcher, Mike Lawson.

Major League Baseball supported the series and allowed its producers to use actual uniforms and to shoot scenes at Petco Park and Dodger Stadium. It also provided consultants to enhance the series' sense of authenticity. The objective behind this active collaboration was to attract new fans, particularly female fans.

The series' co-creators and executive producers are Dan Fogelman and Rick Singer, both veterans of the televised series genre.
