Personal Recollection[edit]

"Pinky" Bean(e?) was a right-handed pitcher on the 1955 Class B Rock Hill Chiefs of the Tri-State League. He joined the club after the start of the season. I was also a pitcher on the team, and remember Pinky as possibly hailing from Charlotte, N.C. He may also have been pitching for the Charlotte Hornets (Class A) when sent to Rock Hill, although I am not certain of this. I remember him as a young player, probably in his very early twenties, with blond hair, and of about average height and weight. I can't recall his pitching record, but he seemed to have good pitching mechanics and good poise on the mound. I think he probably played pro ball after 1955.
