Biographical Information[edit]
Phil Redding pitched in the major leagues in 1912-13, for a total of 28 innings. He had two Hall of Famers as managers, first Roger Bresnahan and then Miller Huggins. Both years the average age of the pitching staff was around 25, but Phil was younger than that.
Redding also had six years in the minors, pitching parts of three years with the Columbus Foxes. In his most impressive year with them, he went 19-6 in a partial season in 1915.
Through 2019 only one other major leaguer has had the same last name: Tim Redding. One other major leaguer has been born in the same town: Hunter Renfroe.
