Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Philip Pohl was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 44th round of the 2008 Amateur Draft from Cooperstown Central High School, but opted to attend Clemson University instead. Four years later the Oakland Athletics drafted in the 28th round of the 2012 Amateur Draft and he played in their minor league system from 2012 to 2015, reaching AAA for 8 games in 2014. Over his four seasons Pohl hit .243/.313/.388 while playing in 182 games. Following his July 2015 release by the Athletics, the independent Laredo Lemurs picked him up to finish the season.

Upon retiring, Pohl became a bullpen catcher for the big league A's, holding that position through 2021. In 2022 Pohl became a manager with the Lansing Lugnuts.
