Biographical Information

Peter Bergeron played parts of five seasons in the majors with the Montreal Expos. His lone season as a regular, 2000, saw him lead National League outfielders in assists with 16 while batting a meager .245/.320/.349 in a heightened offensive era. His bat abandoned him completely in 2001, and he played in just 42 more big league games thereafter. In 11 minor league seasons, spanning 1996 to 2007, Bergeron played 1,048 games, batting .284/.357/.390 with 1,093 hits and 188 stolen bases. He hung up his spikes after the 2007 season, split between the York Revolution in the Atlantic League and the Altoona Curve of the Double A Eastern League, a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate.

In the 1999 Pan American Games, Bergeron hit just .217 for Team USA; they still qualified for the 2000 Olympics. His outfield mates Milton Bradley and Dave Roberts both fared far better. In December 2013, Bergeron was hired as a scout by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
