Biographical Information[edit]

Peter Arthur pitched for a season in the independent leagues and for the British national team.

Born in London, Arthur moved to the US in 1981. He finished among Drew University's career leaders in wins (13) and strikeouts (144). In 1995, he pitched for two pro teams, the Minot Rattlers (1-2, 8.79, 2.65 WHIP in 7 G) and Newark Barge Bandits (1-1, 5.62, 7 BB in 8 IP). In the 1996 European Championship B Pool, he struck out 13 in a win over Slovenia and went 7 for 18 with a double, triple, homer, 7 runs and 7 RBI at the plate. In the 1999 European Championship, he went 4 for 18 with a double as a 1B-OF for Britain. He lost his lone decision, allowing an unearned run in 2/3 of an inning. He later coached soccer and taught at Andover High School and was baseball coach at Westford Academy. He died of a heart attack when he was only 32 years old, the father of a one-year-old.
