Biographical Information[edit]

Pete Craig pitched six games in the majors with the Washington Senators over a period of three years. He also pitched five years in the minors, winning 14 games in three consecutive seasons (1964-1966). Through 2019, Pete is the only major leaguer born in LaSalle, ON (near Windsor, ON), and the only player from Canada born in 1940 (Fergie Jenkins was born in Ontario two years later). Craig, who is 6' 5", attended the University of Detroit Mercy, where his time overlapped with future Basketball Hall of Famer (and Chicago White Sox pitcher) Dave DeBusschere, who was 6' 6".

This page [1] is Pete's at the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame. It states that he went to high school in Windsor, ON, where he played hockey and football. He was cut from his high school team but played youth baseball. He played basketball in college with DeBusschere and was a star pitcher. He got a degree in foreign trade and played semipro ball in the summers. A rotator cuff injury in late 1966 essentially ended his career. He lived in Raleigh, NC after his playing days, and worked for a furniture leasing company.
