Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Percy Miller was the first black person to play in the Carolina League. He made his debut for the Danville Leafs in August 1951 at the age of 19. Miller played in 19 games that season going 7 for 38 (.184). All seven of his hits were singles. Bill White, who would be the second black player in the Carolina League, played for Danville in 1953.
