Biographical Information[edit]
Percy Jones served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He pitched nine years for the Chicago Cubs, Boston Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates and another five seasons in the minor leagues. He was injured while playing for Columbus in the American Association in 1931. He fell from a third-story window, breaking his back. He spent the rest of his life confined to a wheelchair. He died at age 79 and is buried at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.
Jones, who started about half of his major league games, went 12-7 for the Cubs in 1926 and 10-6 in 1928. Joe McCarthy was his manager both years.
