Biographical Information[edit]

Pedro Cruz caught in the Cuban Serie Nacional for 16 years, with a career batting line of .246/.294/.349. He fielded .980 and threw out 399 of 967 attempted base-stealers. Surprisingly for a catcher, his only time on the league leader board was when his 6 triples for the 1970-1971 Granjeros tied Antonio Jiménez for the lead. Through 2004, he was third in Serie Nacional annals in steals allowed (behind Pedro Luis Rodríguez and Carlos Barrabí) and runners caught (behind Juan Manrique and Pedro Luis Rodríguez). He was second in passed balls (179, behind Modesto Larduet).
