Biographical Information[edit]
The son of minor leaguer Albert Risso, pitcher Paul Risso was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 6th round of the January 1973 amateur draft (one pick before Rick Bosetti) but suffered a serious arm injury in his final college game. Stepping away from baseball, he became a civil engineer, but he began to play again recreationally when he turned 50. He later tried out with several independent league clubs and eventually appeared in one game for the Raton Osos of the Pecos League as a 60-year-old in 2013. Facing the Santa Fe Fuego, he gave up one hit in an inning of relief work.
