Biographical Information[edit]

Patrick Mazeika had a very unusual start to his major league career in May of 2021 with the New York Mets: he drove in the game-ending run in two separate games on a fielder's choice, first on May 7th in the 10th inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and then on May 11th in the 9th inning against the Baltimore Orioles. Those two instances came before he had recorded his first major league hit, something that was completely unprecedented. Both hits were squibblers that barely reached the infielders, and he also received a bases-loaded walk during his first four games, tying Joe Brovia for most RBIs before a player's first hit. He had spent a few days with the Mets in 2020 as well, but had not been used in any game.
