Biographical Information

Pam Davis was a female pitcher who played for the Colorado Silver Bullets all-female team, joining them during their second season, in 1995. She was the youngest member of the team at the time, but one of its best pitchers, going 2-7, 5.94 with 39 strikeouts. It must be remembered that the team usually played against stronger opposition and had a lopsided record as a result. In 1996, she topped the team's staff by going 5-5, 5.42 and racked up 54 strikeouts.

Her most famous outing came on June 4, 1996, with the Jacksonville Suns of the AA Southern League. That day, she pitched one scoreless inning in an exhibition game against the Australian national team, who were preparing for their participation in the 1996 Olympics. She received credit for the win since she entered the game in the top of the 5th with her team leading, 6-0, and Jacksonville held the lead to the end of the game, winning, 7-2. She allowed a leadoff double to Peter Vogler but nothing else, as she got Richard Vagg on a ground ball, struck out Michael Dunn, and retired Jason Hewitt on another grounder to end the inning. She was said at the time to be the first woman to play for a team in the affiliated minors, although that was not quite correct as others like Jackie Mitchell had appeared in games under similar circumstances. Still, it was a major accomplishment even if it was not a regular season game. According to contemporary newspaper reports, the crowd chanted "We want Pam" when she did not return for the 6th inning, and she was forced to make a curtain call.

At the time of her professional career, she was a student at the University of South Florida, where she played softball (given the non-existence of female baseball).
