Pablo Morales (executive)
Pablo Ignacio Morales Chirinos
Biographical Information[edit]
Pablo Morales was a prominent figure in Venezuelan baseball in the middle of the 20th Century. He was president of the Federación Internacional de Béisbol Amateur in 1946-1947 and again in 1951-1952 (through 2011, he is the only person to serve two separate stints). In 1948, he and Oscar Prieto proposed the Caribbean Series. In 1952, he teamed with Prieto again, this time buying the Cerveza Caracas club and renaming them the Leones del Caracas. The club would become the best in the Venezuelan League over the next 60 years, with 17 titles through 2011. Morales was inducted into the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 as a journalist and into the Venezuelan Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
