Biographical Information[edit]
Owen Blandino played for 18 seasons in Cuba, primarily at third base. He never led the league in any category. He spent four seasons with the Cuban national team, winning Gold Medals in each event he played in. He was 20 for 40 in the 1969 Amateur World Series, leading that competition in batting average, hits and runs (13). He lost MVP honors to two-way star Gaspar Pérez. He hit .308 in the 1970 Central American and Caribbean Games, .313 in the 1971 Amateur World Series and .240 in the 1972 Amateur World Series. In 18 seasons in Cuba, Blandino hit .254.318/.356 and fielded .935. He later coached youth baseball.
