Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Othoniel Higuera played in the Mexican League from 2004 to 2008. He played for the Guerreros de Oaxaca from 2004 to 2007 and the Pericos de Puebla in 2008. He was 0 for 3 and was hit by a pitch his first year then was 1 for 6 in 2005. In 2006, he hit .239/.333/.391 as Oaxaca's #4 catcher. He had his best season (.304/.304/.522 in 23 PA) in 2007, then batted .197/.253/.289 in 35 games as Puebla's #3 catcher in his final season. Overall, he had batted .221/.282/.344 in 166 plate appearances over 85 games. He fielded .977 at catcher and .982 at first base.
He died in a car accident on June 24, 2013 at the age of 29.
