Oscar Martinez was a minor league infielder for four years. In 1983, he hit .209/.301/.242 in 40 games for two Mexican League teams. The next year, he played a career-high 76 games for the Cafeteros de Cordoba, batting .249/.316/.351. In 67 games for the Cafeteros and Veracruz Eagle in 1985, he hit .194/.245/.224. Despite the liveliest Mexican League offense in 1986, Martinez only batted .212/.307/.280 in 44 games for the Saraperos de Saltillo. He finished his career with a batting line of .220/.292/.285.
