Biographical Information[edit]
Oscar Hirschkorn is a college coach.
Hirschkorn was picked by the San Diego Padres in the 50th round of the 1993 amateur draft as a pitcher out of high school. After a year of junior college, he was taken by San Diego in the 46th round of the 1994 amateur draft. He transferred to Chico State, where he helped the school win the 1997 Division II World Series.
In 1999-2000, Oscar began his coaching career as an assistant at Reedley College. He was an assistant at Caruthers High School in 2002 and was head coach at Sanger High School from 2003-2005. In 2006, he was hired as the first head coach in the history of Fresno Pacific University; he was 115-89 in his first four years. In 2008, he was named the GSAC Coach of the Year. The school went to the 2009 NAIA College World Series in just its fourth season of play.
His twin brother, Orin Hirschkorn, was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1993.
