Biographical Information[edit]
Orvis Sigler was a college coach.
He served in the US Navy during World War II and earned the Air Medal for hitting the Japanese battleship Nagato in his first flight as a dive bomber and attack pilot. He later won 2 Gold Stars and 2 more Air Medals. He was coach of all sports at West Plains High School then was assistant basketball coach at Southwest Missouri State. In 1954, he became head basketball coach for the U.S. Military Academy. He then coached at Centenary College of Louisiana, mainly basketball but also baseball (1972-1973).
