Haarlem Nicols
(Redirected from Opel Nicols Haarlem)
Haarlem Nicols was a dominant team in Hoofdklasse for three decades. They were formed in 1964 by the merger of EDO and EHS. They won titles in 1965, 1966, 1968, 1970, 1974, 1975, 1982-1985 and 1989-1990. Unfortunately, they went bankrupt in 1994 as they had been paying players more than the club could afford. They were the first Hoofdklasse team to have a former major league pitcher, when they signed Stan Bahnsen. They won the European Cup in 1966, 1974, 1975 and 1990.
Through 2009, they were still tied for first all-time in Hoofdklasse titles but Neptunus broke that tie in 2010.
