William Froberg

Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Froberg coached in the Netherlands for many years. He came to the Netherlands in 1981 to play for HMS, then in the Dutch minors, and became a coach in 1983. Retiring as a player, he guided the team to the Hoofdklasse following the 1985 season. He worked for Haarlem Nicols (1986-1987), Twins, Quick Amersfoort (1993-1996), Neptunus (1997-1998) and HCAW. In 2003-2004, he was head coach of HCAW and guided them to the Holland Series both years. He managed the Dutch junior national team in 1999-2003 and 2007. He was first base coach for the Dutch national team in 2007 and coached for them in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He returned as head coach of HCAW in 2010. He scouted for the Atlanta Braves in Europe and was the Chicago Cubs' Netherlands scout. His son Jim Froberg played in the Hoofdklasse from 2011-2015. Bill was 245-188-8 in 12 seasons as a Hoofdklasse coach.
