Oliver C. Mills
Biographical Information[edit]
Otto Mills was a minor league manager. In 1910, he replaced the Vicksburg Hill Climbers' Bruce Hayes partway through the season and remained with the club through 1911 and 1912. He was 73-42 and 66-42 in the latter two campaigns, respectively. He managed the Jackson Lawmakers of the Cotton States League to a 71-24, first-place record in 1913. He began 1914 as the skipper of the Roanoke Tigers, but was replaced by Harry Welcher on May 20. He then replaced Lou Jorda of the Gadsden Steel Makers later that season (though Baseball-Reference.com says it was Apey Mills who replaced Jorda). In 1921, he replaced C. Reflogal as the Meridian Mets manager partway through the year, then in 1923, took over for Cy Slapnicka of the Vicksburg Hill Billies after a spell. In 1924, he was one of four Hill Billies skippers, replacing Red Torkelson and being replaced by Doc Johnston.
An outfielder, he played from 1910 to 1913. In 1911, he led the Cotton States League in runs (87) and hits (155), while batting .348 with a .542 slugging percentage.
