In 1974 Ogden, UT was home to the Ogden Spikers, who replaced the Ogden Dodgers in the Pioneer League. The co-op club went 33-39-1, last in the four-team league. They scored the fewest runs (318) and allowed the most (410). Ben Hines was the manager of the team, which drew 13,042, last in the league by over 10,000. The club did have three All-Stars - OF Marshall Edwards (.291/~.376/.359, 33 for 44 in SB, a league-high 14 sacrifice bunts, 5th in average, 2nd in steals, supplied by the Baltimore Orioles), SS Danny Miller (.355/~.467/.457 but without enough plate appearances to win the batting title) and P Bill Bird (8-6, 2.08, 4th in ERA and with 11 complete games in 15 starts). The next year, the team moved to Canada and became the Lethbridge Expos.

The Spikers had players from 6 different organizations, led by the California Angels who donated 6 players. The Baltimore Orioles (4 players), San Francisco Giants (3), and Los Angeles Dodgers (3) also loaned players to Ogden.
