Pastora de Occidente

Based in Maracaibo, Zulia, the Pastora de Occidente (the "Western Shepherds") joined the Venezuelan League in 1953-1954 and won the pennant behind manager Buster Mills. They finished fourth in the 1954 Caribbean Series on a club featuring Howie Fox, Ramon Monzant, Thornton Kipper, Johnny Temple and Luis "Camaleón" García. The team then returned to the Liga Occidental, where it had played since the 1930s, and remained there until the league folded in 1963.

A club by the same name appeared decades later in the Venezuelan League when the Petroleros de Cabimas moved to Maracaibo in 1995 and changed their name to the Pastora de Occidente. Three years later the team moved to Araure, Portuguesa and were renamed the Pastora de los Llanos.
