Biographical Information[edit]

A man named O'Rourke pitched one game (nine innings) for the Brooklyn Eckfords on July 9, 1872. The team played 29 games that year (losing 26), and used five pitchers. O'Rourke gave up 15 runs in his only game. Nothing else is currently known about this player.

The only other player in the league at the time with the last name O'Rourke was Jim O'Rourke, who played infield and catcher for the Middletown Mansfields. He did pitch a few games in the majors, but much later, in 1883 and 1884 and there is no likelihood that he was the mystery man pitching for Brooklyn that day.
