Alliance University was known as Nyack Missionary College until 1972 and then Nyack College until 2022. The school consolidated its main campus in Nyack into its Manhattan campus in 2019, then changed names to Alliance in August 2022. In June 2023 Alliance lost its accreditation effective December 2023, then ceased operation on Augst 31, 2023,
