Biographical Information[edit]
Norrie Claxton was a champion sprinter in Australia and also played baseball, football and cricket. He was the first president of the South Australian Baseball League (1913-1929). In 1934, he presented the Claxton Shield prize to the top state baseball team in Australia; the event was held annually until 2010, except for a 12-year break when the Australian Baseball League and International Baseball League of Australia existed. In 2005, he was one of the initial inductees into the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame.
