Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Norbert Rodgers originally signed as a 17-year-old with the Philadelphia Phillies organization in 1962. He pitched seven games for Miami in Class D and did not appear in the U.S. in 1963. For 1964, however, he signed with the Chicago White Sox chain and showed much promise. In his second pro season, he went 13-6, 3.17 for Clinton of the Class A Midwest League and fired a seven-inning no-hitter on June 23. But Norb did not really develop as a prospect over the next four years, never even reaching Double-A ball. He was, however, on the staff of the Mayagüez Indios when they won the Puerto Rican championship in 1965-66.
From 1969 through 1972 Rodgers pitched in Mexico. There he was a swingman, making 32 starts in 148 appearances with a record of 16-28, 3.53.
