Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Noel Casbier played minor league ball from 1939 to 1951, missing the 1942-1945 seasons. He appeared in 16 games in the class B Southeastern League in 1946, the highest he would reach. Casbier was a fine performer in the low minors, hitting over .300 every season except his first and last and peaking at .343. He twice hit 21 homers and drove in 109 runs in 1949.
Casbier was a gunner's mate in the Navy during World War II.
After retiring, Casbier was an insurance agent in Lenoir, NC. He was found shot to death in his car at age 43 of an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound.
