Biographical Information[edit]
Noel Bruce was a minor league pitcher who played for the Oshkosh Indians, supposedly beginning at age 44 in 1909. He played there until 1911, which seemed to be his most solid season as he picked up a career high of 28 wins and 10 losses that year. After this he went to play for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1912. He continued to play baseball in Milwaukee in 1913 but went to play for the Fond du Lac Molls when the team relocated later that season. He joined the Dayton Veterans of the Central League in 1914 and that year he had a 17 and 12 record on the bump, with this being the second and final recorded time he had more wins than losses. In 1915, now 50 years of age, Noel played one final season with Dayton and finished that year with 9 wins, 15 losses, and a 3.04 earned run average.
He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1921 at 56.
