Biographical Information

Nico Filice has played for the Swedish national team.

Filice grew up in California and took regular trips to Sweden, as his mother was Swedish. On one visit, his father asked about whether Nico and his sister Elli would be eligible to represent Sweden in international baseball and softball competitions. When the 2012 European Championship rolled along, the Filices played for their mother's native country. Nico went 1 for 6 as a bench player, his one hit coming against Germany's André Hughes. He also played for Stockholm BSK in the Swedish Elitserien that summer, hitting .311/.432/.360 as a middle infielder.
