Biographical Information[edit]
Nick Peters covered the San Francisco Giants as a beat writer for 48 years. He started with the San Francisco Chronicle in 1961 and ended up at the Sacramento Bee in 2008. When the Giants opened their new ballpark in 2000, Peters was so respected that he was asked where in the press box he wanted to sit. For many years, he was also the Giants' correspondent for The Sporting News.
He was the winner of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award, given annually by the Baseball Writers Association of America to honor an outstanding baseball writer, in 2009. He also wrote numerous books about the Giants.
He passed away in 2015 at 75 after a long illness.
