Biographical Information[edit]
Nick Giaquinto coached college baseball for 30 years.
Giaquinto was a star football player in college, once rushing for 277 yards in a game. He spent four years in the NFL as a running back for the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins, winning the 1983 Super Bowl (in which he caught two passes). After football, he was assistant baseball coach at George Mason University while earning his master's degree. In 1988, he became head coach of Sacred Heart University. He took the team to the 1992 Division II College World Series. He helped the team transition to NCAA Division I in 2000. They made the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time in 2006 then set a school record for wins (31) in 2010. Giaquinto was 626-748-3 before stepping down at the end of the 2017 season.
