Biographical Information[edit]
Nel Harms was born in New York but got into baseball while attending school in Curacao. He was on the Netherlands Antilles national team in the 1952 Amateur World Series and 1953 Amateur World Series. He and Reuben Phillips were the first two men living in Aruba to sign pro contracts in the US, doing so in January 1954. He had a brief pro career, playing a handful of games in 1954 with the Waycross Bears, Clovis Pioneers and Plainview Ponies, going 0-2 on the hill. His brother Roy Harms also played for the Antilles national team.
