Neil Read played for the Hull Mets in Britain. He played for the British national team in the 1984 European Championship B Pool, 1992 European Championship B Pool (1 for 12, 2 R), 1994 European Championship B Pool (.429, 10 R, 6 RBI in 5 G; tied for the team lead in runs) and 1996 European Championship B Pool (.250, 3 RBI in 5 G). In the 1997 European Championship, the middle infielder was 4 for 19 with two runs and a RBI.
