Neil Buszard won the Helms Award and batting title in the 1974 Claxton Shield, one of five Claxton Shields in which he played for Victoria. He was on the Australian national team that won Bronze in the 1975 Asian Championship, Australia's only medal in an Asian Championship. He played over 300 games of Premier Cricket, and coached cricket for eight seasons. He was head coach of cricket at the Victorian Institute of Sport. His experience with baseball fielding statistics led him to conclude that cricket needed such records as well and he helped devise fielding stats for cricket.
