He hit .367 with 13 home runs, 32 doubles and 18 triples (.633 slugging percentage) in 104 games in 1948, then slashed .318/.427/.584 with 14 home runs, 71 RBI, 19 doubles, 13 triples, 92 runs and 57 walks (47 strikeouts) in 90 games in 1949. In 1950, Dodgin batted .358 with a .649 slugging mark, hitting 20 home runs, 23 doubles and 20 triples in 111 games. He also replaced Ken Rudisill as team manager partway through the campaign. In that year's Rule V Draft, he was selected by the Saints from the Newnan Brownies for whom he never played. Though he spent a few more seasons in the minors, he never hit .300 again, though he managed double digit home runs in 1952 and 1953 and hit 15 triples in 1952. In 1953, he was the third of four skippers for the Sports, replacing Rudisill and being replaced by Charley Knight. Overall, Dodgin batted .312 with 735 hits in 630 games over seven seasons.
