Biographical Information[edit]

Naoto Tsuru pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Tsuru was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the first round of the high school phase in the 2005 NPB draft, but he spent his first four seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only pitched 2 games combined with the big club. He was 2-4 with a 3.77 ERA in 2010, then he had a 3.68 ERA in 5 starts in 2011. Tsuru improved to a 1.89 ERA in 43 games in 2012, then his ERA rose to 4.93 in 20 games in 2013. Tsuru struggled again in 2014 as his ERA was 5.06 in 19 games, and he only pitched 7 games combined in the next two seasons. He announced his retirement in 2016.

Overall, Tsuru was 9-8 with a 3.80 ERA, struck out 126 and pitched 227 2/3 innings in 9 seasons in NPB.
