Myung-sung Kim was a coach and a manager in the first couple decades of the Korea Baseball Organization. As a pitcher, he had appeared for South Korea in the 1969 Asian Championship. He was pitching coach of the 1982 Lotte Giants, 1986-1987 Taepyungyang Dolphins, 1989-1990 Samsung Lions, 1994-1996 LG Twins and 1998 Lotte Giants. In June 1998, he became manager of the Giants. A chain smoker, he died of a heart attack in 2001.
