Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Myung-gu Kang has played in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Kang began his professional career with the Samsung Lions in 2003, going 0 for 3 in nine games. In 2004, he was 3 for 11. He played 106 games in 2005, primarily as a defensive substitute and pinch-runner, only getting 44 at-bats; he hit .250/~.340/.273. He stole 21 bases in 23 tries. He scored 30 runs.

In 2006, Kang was 1 for 19 at the plate with 5 walks in 91 games and swiped 21 bags in 27 attempts. He crossed home 22 times. In 69 games in 2007, Kang was 3 for 27 with 5 walks and a triple. He was 13-for-16 in base-stealing and scored 13 runs.

Kang then began his military service. While in the military, he was with South Korea as their second baseman in the 2009 Baseball World Cup. He hit .268/.318/.317, leading South Korea in average. He surprisingly did not show much on the basepaths, with three steals in six tries. He fielded .964.
