Biographical Information

"The champion first baseman of the International, great, good, big-hearted McQuery, has been "sawing wood" and saying nothing during the winter months at his home in Covington, Ky., and will captain the champions next season." - Sporting Life, March 27, 1889, about Will McQuery

Will "Mox" McQuery was a first baseman who hit pretty well in three different leagues. His best year was probably 1890 when he hit .308, the second best average on the 1890 Syracuse Stars behind Cupid Childs.

He was not often called "Mox" in the press. In 1896 Sporting Life referred to him as "Will McQuery (Big Mack)", saying that he had retired from baseball and had a good position in Covington, KY.
