Biographical Information[edit]
Maurice "Morrie" Schick played one season in the majors for the Chicago Cubs in 1917. He also had at least nine seasons in the minors, mostly in the Pacific Coast League, with a couple of seasons also playing for the New Orleans Pelicans. He was an outfielder.
With the Cubs, Morrie had two appearances as a pinch-runner in April, one appearance as a pinch-hitter on May 1st, and then nothing until September 6th. In September, he appeared in 13 games, many as a starter.
Morrie was a workhorse with the 1920 San Francisco Seals, appearing in more games (199) than another other player. He also had the second-highest batting average on the team. He played 200 games for the 1922 Salt Lake City Bees, leading the team.
After baseball, he sold hardware.
