Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Mitsuhiko Ishida played in Nippon Professional Baseball for Hankyu (1936-1940), Nankai (1941-1942), Yamato (1943) and Gold Star (1946).

In 132 2/3 innings his first campaign, he had a 1.49 ERA while going 7-5 with only 90 hits allowed. He went 13-10 with a 2.79 mark in 1937, and was 12-10 with a 2.70 ERA in 1938. After a somewhat down year in 1939, Ishida had a career year in 1940 and went 16-13 with a 1.68 ERA in 43 games (30 starts), completing a career-high 18 games with four shutouts. He followed that with a 0.96 ERA in 140 innings in 1941. After a handful of down years, his career was over. Overall, he was 91-93 with a 2.46 ERA in 300 games (194 starts). At the plate, he hit .206/.287/.246 in 710 at-bats.
