Biographical Information[edit]

Mitch Huckabay played baseball at the universities noted above and graduated in 2015 with a degree in communications. In his final season at LSU Alexandria he was named an All-Red River Athletic Conference First-Team Second Baseman. In addition, Huckabay won the NAIA Rawlings Gold Glove Award at second base as he posted a 1.000 fielding percentage for the season.

Huckabay began his coaching career at Southern Arkansas University where he earned a master's degree in kinesiology. While a student there he served as a Muleriders graduate assistant coach during the 2016 & 2017 seasons. Huckabay then moved into full-time coaching at the collegiate level. He worked as an assistant coach at Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 2018-2019 where he helped the Pilots to back-to-back regular season conference championships. In 2020 he was an assistant coach for the Vernon College Chaparrals and in 2021 he coached the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles. Huckabay joined the Sam Houston State University Bearkats for the 2022 season as a volunteer assistant coach and stayed with the team through the end of the year.

Huckabay moved into the professional coaching ranks when the Toronto Blue Jays hired him to coach hitters for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2023-2024.
