Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Willis took the bump in an emergency capacity for the Toronto Blue Jays on September 20, 1978, and shut down the New York Yankees and "Louisiana Lightning" Ron Guidry, 8-1, for a complete game victory in Guidry's 25-3 season. It was his lone career complete game, and a game he would refer to as the game of his life. Willis joined Mike Caldwell and Mike Flanagan as a member of the "Three Lefties Named Mike" that defeated Guidry in 1978.
After his playing days, Willis was pitching coach of the Maine Guides in 1987.
