Biographical Information

Catcher Mike Ulisney posted an awesome.389/.421/.611 line during his eleven games in the majors. Mike spent twelve seasons in professional baseball from 1938 to 1950. He appeared in the minor leagues in all 12 of these years with ten different teams in eight different leagues. Mike appeared in 886 games and compiled a career .253 minor league batting average.

Mike appeared in 11 games in the major leagues with the Boston Braves in 1945. He picked up 7 hits in 18 at-bats for a .389 batting average and this was the sum-total of his time in the big leagues.

Ulisney also served in the United States Army in 1942 and 1943 during World War II.

He finished up his pro baseball career in 1950 at the age of 32 as one of two managers for the Niagara Falls Citizens of the Middle Atlantic League.

Mike lived most of his life after baseball in the State of Florida. He worked as a painter in the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area, retiring to Deltona, FL in 1987. He died on September 22, 2005 at the Hospice House in New Smyrna Beach, FL and was interred in the Deltona Memorial Gardens. He was 87 years old.

It appears he is now commonly called Ulicny, but many sources refer to him as Ulisney. He signed a baseball during his major league days with the name Ulisney.
