Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Thiessen starred in both baseball and football at the Air Force Academy. He was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 42nd round of the 2001 amateur draft, the first Air Force player to be drafted in more than two decades. An outfielder, he made his pro debut in 2001 with the Yakima Bears, hitting a team-high .308 in 27 games. After not playing in 2002, he was with the Lancaster Jethawks the next summer and hit .278 with 5 homers, 29 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.

Thiessen, who played quarterback on the football team at Air Force, is currently the wide receivers coach for the school's football team.
