Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Difelice was a back-up catcher for a number of teams from 1996, when he made his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals, until 2008, the year of his final appearance with the Tampa Bay Rays. He spent two tours of duties with both St. Louis and Tampa Bay, including the latter club's first three seasons, when they were an expansion team and still known as the "Devil Rays", between 1998 and 2000. His busiest season came as a rookie with the Cards in 1997 when he had 260 at-bats in 93 games and hit .238 with 4 homers and 30 RBIs. The Devil Rays selected him in the expansion draft after that year and he had his second busiest season with them the next year, with 84 games and 248 at-bats.
