Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Davison played parts of two seasons in the majors with the San Francisco Giants.
Davison was originally signed by the Baltimore Orioles prior to the 1964 season and split that year between two clubs, going 12-4 in 23 appearances. That fall, he was selected by the Giants in the Rule V draft. He lost 20 games between two clubs in 1965, despite posting a respectable 3.06 ERA. He then missed the next three seasons due to military service.
Davison returned to pro ball in 1969, going 3-5 with a 3.27 ERA in 22 games for the Amarillo Giants. This performance earned him a late-season call-up to the majors, and he made his big league debut against the San Diego Padres on October 1st. He entered the game in the top of the eighth, giving up an earned run in two innings of work in what would be his only appearance for San Francisco that year. He spent much of 1970 back with the Giants, going 3-5 with a 6.50 ERA in 31 relief outings. He made his final big league appearance on October 1st, exactly one year after his big league debut. He continued to pitch in the minors through 1971.
Davison once struck out 18 consecutive batters while pitching in an amateur game for Springfield, Minnesota.
